US dollars are the legal tender of the BVI. Most bars and restaurants will accept Mastercard and Visa but American Express is not widely accepted. There’s no ATM on the island so we recommend bringing some cash for tipping boat captains, taxis, massage therapists, entertainment and other third party vendors.
The tap water at each of the estates is carefully filtered and of excellent drinking quality. Unlimited bottled water is also provided.
There is an experienced medic stationed on the island.
120V Type B outlets (the same as the US). Guests visiting from elsewhere are supplied with universal adapters.
The island is incredibly private and safe. There are no drones, paparazzi or passersby to intrude.
The easiest method of travel is by private jet to Tortola, where you will be met and taken by private launch on an exhilarating 30-minute ride through sparkling waters to Moskito.
Alternatively, fly commercial to Antigua, San Juan or St Thomas, then take a short flight to Tortola (20 minutes from St Thomas, 45 minutes from San Juan and Antigua), and track the islands of the the Caribbean as you fly over a tapestry of turquoise waters and lush greenery. During the summer months there are often direct flights from Miami to Tortola (3 hours).
Helicopters can also land on Moskito Island, while some guests choose to be dropped off by yacht.
Fly by private jet to Tortola or commercial from London to Antigua then hop on a 45-minute flight to Tortola.
At Tortola airport you’ll be met and whisked, via a 30-minute trip by private launch, through the Caribbean Sea to the island.
Although in the tropics, Moskito is tempered by gentle trade winds that blow from the northeast so it’s comfortable most of the year. It stays warm into the evening and it’s pleasant to dine outdoors until late. Sea temperature is very close to the air temperature.
